Sleep Week: World Sleep Day

March 19, 2021

For the average person, getting 8 hours of sleep a day seems like an impossible task. While we often preach how important sleep is, the difficulty of actually achieving it isn’t lost on us. Between work, errands, parenting for some, relationships, pets—a lot is demanded of us every single day. The busier we get the lower on our priority list sleep falls. If you’re reading this and feeling judged by your lack of slumber, don’t; we completely understand.

However, we are a sleep company, so naturally, we’ve dedicated ourselves to understanding sleep and helping thousands get better rest. That’s why we’re using today, World Sleep Day, not as a guilt trip, but as a call to action to help you realize why sleep should keep its spot at the top of your priority list.

World Sleep Day.

World Sleep Day is an annual event to celebrate sleep and remind the world of its importance on not just our daily lives, but for our future selves as well. It is organized by the World Sleep Society and it aims to educate and “lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.” 2021’s slogan is “Better sleep for a healthy future” to place importance on the investment we make in ourselves when we prioritize sleep.

Why T&N Cares About World Sleep Day.

We sell mattresses and other bedroom essentials, yes, but we were founded to solve a problem—buying a mattress was difficult and expensive, and we wanted to fix that. We aim to eliminate just one more obstacle that stood in the way of someone getting the sleep they need and deserve. This is what drives us—helping customers get a truly great night of sleep so they can wake up feeling their best and ready to conquer what the day has in front of them. We do that through developing mattresses and other sleep products, donating time, money, and products to organizations and schools across the country, and continuing to be a resource for sleep education.

Why You Should Start Tonight.

We challenge you to use World Sleep Day, tonight, as the first night of your sleep resolution. Pick just one thing to improve your sleep tonight. Stop drinking caffeine at noon today. Read a book instead of scrolling through your phone for half an hour before you fall asleep. Go to bed half an hour before you typically would. A small change can have a big impact on how you feel tomorrow.
